Wednesday March 13 we’re the returning-guests on a Live at Binion’s Songwriter’s Showcase session at Binion’s Ice House in Arlington. The festivities start at 8:30, and we’ll be performing some songs from the depths of the PF63 catalog (old songs night!)! No overlap from the set we played there in November. Open to the public. Come get sung to!
Oh. Hey! We’re gonna be in Brooklyn on May 21 recording some 7” vinyl singles with Leesta Vall as part of their Direct-to-Vinyl Live Sessions project.
Here’s the scoop: YOU chose a song* from a list of PF63 favorites (and two unreleased tunes!). We play the song live in the studio as the record is lathe-cut in real time. Each performance is unique (and may include shout-outs, dedications, fuckups, etc). The end result is seven one-of-a-kind inches of fuzzy pleasure for your earholes!
*Each record can hold 5 minutes of music, so if you pick two short songs, you can even get a 2-for-1 thing!
We are superfugginexcited to be be playing at Red Zeppelin Records in McKinney on Saturday March 2. They have been big supporters of our fuzzy dog & pony show for a long time, and we’ve made some new fans who have discovered our records at Red Zeppelin. Sharing the stage with No Good Babies from Denton!
Music at 8. $10 to get in. All ages. BYOB. Tell your weird friends!
Next on the docket: The Bayou Club in Orange TX. We’ll be sharing the bill with local faves The Red Velvet. The show is FREE so you have no good excuse for not coming.
Join us on February 2nd at Growl Records to celebrate Groundhog’s Day and the Professor’s Slightly-Belated Birthday!
Joining us are those crazy apes The Go-Go Rillas, and noted animal-lovers from Houston, Darwin’s Finches. There will be pizza and burgers and beer (for sale) from Division Brewing! There will be FREE cupcakes! There will be banana (for the apes)!
not infrequently, i run into someone who tells me something to the effect of “there hasn’t been been any good music since [insert random date that somehow manages to correlate to that person’s teenage/college years],” or “there’s no good [rock/guitar/punk/etc] music being made these days.” we know that is not true. the problem is not with the music being made, but with either 1) being open to new music, or 2) finding that new music. the algorithms work hard to keep you in your comfort zone by feeding you the same stuff over and over and over.
so next time someone (maybe even YOU) lament the lack of “good new music,” take a dive into the following collection of 2023 Year-End Best-Of/Favorites from some of the DJs at WFMU, which scientifically disproves the naysayer claims.
so damn much great music came out last year. give it a listen and discover your new favorite bands, then support them by buying their music and/or merch on bandcamp (or your favorite local/indie record store), seeing their shows, and telling your friends.
and please consider supporting WFMU for turning you on to great new music as well.
typically, when we release a new record we make a solemn promise to our listeners:
“this record is guaranteed not to be on anyone’s YEAR-END BEST-OF LIST.”
and for five albums over nearly a decade, that’s been true. but friends, we’re afraid that this year we have failed to keep our promise.
our 2023 “cinnamon sea LP” (our sixth full-length release) has, in fact, landed on a bunch of people’s YEAR-END BEST-OF / FAVORITES LIST.
trust me, no one was more shocked than us! oh well… thanks for the love. we appreciate it.
perhaps the biggest figurative kick in the head about the reception this record has garnered is the fact that all eight tracks have been played over the FCC-regulated airwaves (as well as on various internet radio shows), individually (not in some “whole album at once” format). so, a deep thanks to the DJs who have given “cinnamon sea LP” a spin or three!
and thanks to clint niosi and stephen finley for the top-job engineering/mixing and mastering the album.
we’ll be on the road some in 2024, and back in the studio making more fuzzy noise for your ears.
Once again, we’re staying home on NYE and broadcasting our evening of music and snacks right into your living room!
We’ll start the stream about 9 PM Central on Dec 31, and try our best to entertain you and our neighbors until 2024 hits the east coast of the united states.
Just hop over to our FB page and enjoy. Heckling from the comments is encouraged!
After a handful of missed connections, we’re finally sharing a bill with Chicago’s Daisychain! Tomorrow night at Double Wide in Dallas. We kick things off, followed by Big Drag, King Clam, and Daisychain. Come early. Stay late.
Released on 9 December 2023, directed by Ryan J. Gill, “When Lawn Darts Are Outlawed Only Outlaws Will Have Lawn Darts,” with moving pictures AND sound!
One week from tonight (Sat, 2 December 2023) we celebrate the release of our new Cinnamon Sea LP with a loud evening at Dr Jeckyll’s Beer Lab in Pantego!
Kicking off the party are Haltom City’s Finest, The Me-Thinks! Then, we’ll play the songs from the new album, before yielding the telephone to anyone who wants to join us onstage for some PFuzz Karaoke (see song list, below). All night long, gaze upon a collection of paintings by Maren Farmer Art that illustrate the album’s songs.
Thanksgiving Eve (11/22) we’re the guests on a Live at Binion’s Songwriter’s Showcase session at Binion’s Ice House in Arlington. The festivities start at 8:30, and we’ll be performing songs we’ve written! Go figure.
1x: 11/19. Sunday AFTERNOON we’re rocking GROWL Records with Cornish Game Hen and The Mullens to celebrate the shared birthday of Wade (Division Brewing/GROWL) and Mr. B (PF63).
We take the stage at 4 PM, with CGH next, and The Mullens closing out. There’s beer. Pizza and burgers. Cupcakes. Get rocked and still get some sleep before Monday hits!
Next Saturday, 11/11, we’re rocking The 101 in Bryan with pals Darstar and J Goodin. Music starts at 9:00. Come early. Stay late. The 101 is the place to see and be seen with all of the beautiful people of Brazos County!
December 2. Dr. Jeckyll’s Beer Lab. The Me-Thinks. The Prof.Fuzz 63. PFuzz Karaoke. Album Art Show. Everything you want and MORE!
We’ll be celebrating the release of our SIXTH full-length album (guaranteed not to be on anyone’s Year End Best Of List) with our LOUD friends The Me-Thinks, followed by PF63 playing the songs from the new album, and THEN, YOU can hop up on the stage and sing your favorite PF63 songs into the RED TELEPHONE MIC. Ongoing throughout the night, Maren Farmer Art will exhibit paintings of the album songs. And there’s beer too.
So scope out your favorite PF63 songs. Peep the lyrics here: https://pf63.net/lyrics/ Tell your friends.
Friday November 3rd we’re back at the Hippie Hole House in Denton for a garage-rockin’ house party! Joined by our friends Hisaac, Cosmic Frownies, and The Wheel Workers (Houston), it’s gonna be a classic Denton evening.
Doors at 6. Music at 7. 18+
Don’t park on the street (there’s a parking lot nearby). Respect the house, hosts, and neighbors. DM us or Hippie Hole House for address.
It’s been a few minutes since we last played Oklahoma City. 2,220,480 minutes (and counting), to be exact. So, we’re super psyched to be making a return trek north to get scary with our old friends Fire Bad! and new friends Black Powder Charlie at Point A Gallery. Saturday Oct 21.
The Prof.Fuzz 63 “Cinnamon Sea LP” A PF63 Release (PF63-05) 2023
“Cinnamon Sea LP,” the sixth full-length album from Howdy Arabia’s First Family of Fuzz™, The Prof.Fuzz 63, was released on 5 October 2023.
The album, recorded and mixed by Clint Niosi at Orange Otter Audio in Fort Worth TX, and mastered by Stephen Finley at Sugar Hill Recording Studio in Houston TX, contains eight new songs that build on the sonic foundation of pounding drums, grinding organ and dirty piano, gritty guitar, phoned-in vocals, and extra scoops of fuzz that you’ve come to love and expect from the PF63.
Side 1 contains remixed and remastered versions of four songs released earlier in 2023 as “Cinnamon Sea EP,” and Side 2 kicks things up another level or two with four new weird tracks.
Radio Comments: Side 1 is 100% FCC-friendly. Side 2 is 75% FCC-friendly. Track 1 “An Amorous History of Paper Airplanes” contains the line “He drew a dick on a paper airplane.” Broadcast over the federally-regulated airways at your own risk.
Cinnamon Sea LP Song Notes:
Side 1 Cinnamon Sea: A song about obsession and loss, and, perhaps, a mermaid.
Jazz Wives: A song about cool women who don’t give a fuck, and their less-than-ideal partners.
Climax Aurora Has a Seaside Disease: A song about a woman with a mysterious condition, and a desire to write a book.
Your Call is Not That Important: A song that says the quiet part out loud.
Side 2 An Amorous History of Paper Airplanes: A song about unrequited love and folded paper flying through the air.
When Lawn Darts Are Outlawed Only Outlaws Will Have Lawn Darts: A song about dangerous toys, now illegal and no longer flying through the air.
Pigment of My Imagination: A song about colorful dreams.
Shy Ann From Laramie: A song about a guy who gets killed by a woman he thought loved him. This is what we imagined a spaghetti western murder ballad by Sonic Youth might have sounded like…

The new The Prof.Fuzz 63 album, “Cinnamon Sea LP” will be released on December 2, 2023!
The second song on Side 2, “When Lawn Darts Are Outlawed Only Outlaws Will Have Lawn Darts” is a little ditty about a toy that was pulled from the market after three children were tragically killed while playing with it. There is no deeper political meaning to the song, trust us on that…
